LSA – Learning Support Assistant
Salary: £18,332 (FTE)
Start Date: September 2022
We are seeking to recruit a self-motivated, enthusiastic and caring learning support assistant to join an SEN school in the Saltash area who we are working in partnership with. This position will involve supporting children aged between 5 – 16 who have various educational health care plans (ECHP) who require 1:1 support, you’ll be supporting the children who have challenging behaviour and complex needs.
This position is Monday to Friday 9am – 3pm, term time only.
What the role involves:
- Supporting the class teacher with the delivery of the Curriculum.
- Working in partnership with parents, teachers and the school to establish a supportive and nurturing learning environment in which children make excellent progress.
- Helping pupils develop independent learning skills, manage their own learning and prioritise their time.
- Manage Challenging Behaviour.
- Become a positive role model to the children.
The ideal candidate will:
Have experience working in a school/alternative provision/SEN setting or experience working with challenging behaviour or work within the following sectors; Care worker, Sports Coach, Youth Work or education.
Be confident working with pupils who have learning disabilities and other complex needs.
Have an interest in education and be passionate about making a positive impact on the students' lives.
Not be afraid to get stuck in!
The successful applicant must hold:
Full enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to complete one
Experience - ideally has experience in supporting children with special educational needs or has the passion to work in an SEN school
