Opus Education are currently working exclusively with a large MAT and are looking to appoint outstanding Higher Level Teaching Assistant with experience of working with challenging/SEN pupils.

We are looking to appoint an outstanding High Level Teaching Assistant, who embodies has diverse experience, as well as a passion for working with young people with additional needs. Our ideal candidate will have excellent teamwork and communication skills, the ability and enthusiasm to make a difference with students who have a range of needs.

You will work young people aged 4 to 16 your role will complement the professional work of colleagues by taking responsibility for agreed learning activities and pastoral duties. This will involve planning, preparing and delivering learning activities for individuals or groups and monitoring, progress and development during term time, along with delivering an enrichment programme during holiday periods.

 

Main purpose of the Role:

· To assist the delivery of outstanding learning experiences leading to significant progression and attainment for all pupils

· Work with the Education team to raise the learning and attainment of pupils · Promote pupils’ independence, self-esteem and social inclusion

· Give support to pupils, individually or in groups, so they can access the curriculum, take part in learning and experience a sense of achievement

 

Duties and responsibilities

· Demonstrate an informed and efficient approach to teaching and learning by adopting relevant strategies to support the work of the teacher and increase participation and achievement of all pupils

· Use effective behaviour management strategies consistently in line with the school’s policy and procedures

 · Support effective behaviour management techniques with a focus on de-escalation to ensure a safe learning environment.

· In collaboration with teachers, organise and manage teaching space and resources to help maintain a stimulating and safe learning environment

· Observe pupil performance and pass observations on to teachers

· Where applicable, use ICT skills to advance pupils’ learning

· Undertake any other relevant duties given by the Head of Education/teacher in charge

· Encourage appropriate social behaviour, during school hours both in and out of school and cater for the general welfare of Young People

· Accompany students on educational visits under the direction of the Teacher in charge

· Make, devise and maintain equipment as required, ensuring that the classroom is kept in a clean and tidy condition;

Planning

· Contribute to effective assessment and planning by supporting the monitoring, recording and reporting of pupil performance and progress as appropriate to the level of the role

· Read and understand lesson plans shared prior to lessons, if available

· Understand the cohort and plan accordingly

· Prepare the classroom for lessons · Use their area(s) of expertise to contribute to the planning and preparation of learning activities, and to plan their role in learning activities

· Use allocated time to devise clearly structured activities that interest and motivate learners and advance their learning

· Plan how they will support the inclusion of pupils in the learning activities

 

Salary: D Grade (£20,092 - £22,183 pro rata)
